March Meeting with D11 Sup Ahsha Safai; Board Members Election
March 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Please join the City Democratic Club as we welcome newly elected District 11 Supervisor Ahsha Safai as our featured guest speaker. Current members will also vote to elect Board officers for the 2017 term.
What’s it really like in City Hall after last year’s election? Got D11 Questions? City-wide Questions? Bring them all!
See you next week.
Supervisor Safai describes himself as a passionate advocate for children and working families. It’s no wonder since Safai lives in the Excelsior District with his wife Yadira and their two young children.
Safai earned his B.A. in political science and African-American studies from Northeastern University and an M.A. in city planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.).
Prior to joining the Board of Supervisors, Safai served as the political director for the Service Employees International Union Local 87 and principal at Kitchen Cabinet Public Affairs, advancing the goals of many non-profit community based and political organizations throughout the Bay Area.
Safai has been actively involved in local government for the past fifteen years – working under Mayors Willie Brown and Gavin Newsom with the San Francisco Housing Authority, the Mayor’s Office of Community Development, and the Department of Public Works, all the while advocating on behalf of neighborhood residents and low-income working families. Prior to establishing himself in San Francisco,Safai also served as an assistant to the deputy director of intergovernmental affairs for the Clinton White House.
