Politics 101

January 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

San Francisco’s politics might be a bit confusing and after the last election, I’m sure you’re more curious than ever. Mayor, Board of Supes, Senate, Assembly, DCCC – what the hell does it all mean and what’s going on?

Join us for a fun evening of drinks and snacks as we learn the intricacies of our city, state, and national politics. We’ll have a good laugh at the madness, and try to predict what’s going to happen in the future.

Some topics we’ll cover:
• Who are our current elected officials?
• How often are elections and how long are the terms?
• How many Supervisors are there? What are the Districts? What do they do?
• Who represents SF in the CA Senate, CA Assembly, US Senate, and the US House of Reps?
• Who just won in 2016? Who’s up for election in 2018? 2019? 2020? 2022?
• Who is in the wings to run in future races?
• What can we do in SF to have an impact nationally? How can we fight Trump?
• What is ranked choice voting?
• Supervisor/Mayor relationship in regards to legislation and appointments.
• Creating new legislation: Supervisors vs. through the ballot process.
• What is the Democratic County Central Committee (DCCC) and what is their function?
