SF POLITICS 101: AN INFORMAL DISCUSSION

January 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

San Francisco’s politics might be a bit confusing and after the last election, I’m sure you’re more curious than ever. Mayor, Board of Supes, Senate, Assembly, DCCC – what the hell does it all mean and what’s going on?

Join us for a fun evening of drinks and snacks as we learn the intricacies of our city, state, and national politics. We’ll have a good laugh at the madness, learn how we can fight back, and try to predict what’s going to happen in the future.

Some topics we’ll cover:
• Who are our current elected officials?
• How often are elections and how long are the terms?
• How many Supervisors are there? What are the Districts? What do they do?
• Who represents SF in the CA Senate, CA Assembly, US Senate, and the US House of Reps?
Who just won in 2016? Who’s up for election in 2018? 2019? 2020? 2022?
• Who is in the wings to run in future races?
• What can we do in SF to have an impact nationally? How can we fight Trump?
• What is ranked choice voting?
• Supervisor/Mayor relationship in regards to legislation and appointments.
• Creating new legislation: Supervisors vs. through the ballot process.
• What is the Democratic County Central Committee (DCCC) and what is their function?
