SF Politics 101: An Informal Discussion

December 6, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

politics 101

Do you have lingering questions about how our local government works? Who’s elected to what and for how long? If so, join an informal discussion hosted by UDC President Justin Jones to answer your questions.

Some topics we’ll cover:

  • Who are our current elected officials?
  • How often are elections and how long are the terms?
  • How many Supervisors are there? What are the Districts? What do they do?
  • Who represents SF in the CA Senate, CA Assembly, US Senate, and the US House of Reps?
  • Who just won in 2016? Who’s up for election in 2018? 2019? 2020? 2022?
  • Who is in the wings to run in future races?
  • What can we do in SF to have an impact nationally? How can we fight Trump?
  • What is ranked choice voting?
  • Supervisor/Mayor relationship in regards to legislation and appointments.
  • Creating new legislation: Supervisors vs. through the ballot process.
  • What is the Democratic County Central Committee (DCCC) and what is their function?

RSVP

We aim to keep the event conversational so everyone can have their questions answered; this is not a formal presentation. In order to do so, we are limiting the number of attendees.

To attend, please RSVP to Justin Jones at president@uniteddems.org for the event address.
